Rangers, Panthers Meet in Sunrise With Season Winding Down SUNRISE, Fla. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to salvage difficult seasons will meet when the New York Rangers visit the Florida Panthers on Monday night at Amerant Bank Arena. The Rangers (33-47) and Panthers (37-42) enter the final week of the regular season well outside the playoff picture. Both clubs will play the second game of a back-to-back set, with New York coming off a 2-0 loss at Dallas on Saturday and Florida falling 5-1 at Ottawa on Thursday. A key matchup will be in goal, where Rangers netminder Igor Shesterkin will look to rebound from a tough stretch. Despite a 17-save performance in the loss to the Stars, Shesterkin has lost eight of his last 11 starts. He was sharp in the most recent meeting with Florida, however, making 27 saves in a 3-1 Rangers victory on March 29 at Madison Square Garden. For the Panthers, forward Jesper Boqvist will aim to provide a spark. He scored Florida’s lone goal in the loss to Ottawa, his first point in four games. Boqvist had an assist in the March 29 loss to the Rangers. The season series has been dominated by New York, which has won both meetings. In addition to the March 29 win, the Rangers routed the Panthers 5-1 in Sunrise on Jan. 2. Following this game, the Rangers will travel to face the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday. The Panthers will remain home to host the Detroit Red Wings on the same night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT.
