CALGARY, Alberta (Interstat) — The Utah Mammoth visit the Calgary Flames on Sunday in a late-season NHL matchup at Scotiabank Saddledome, with Utah aiming to solidify its playoff positioning and Calgary looking to play spoiler. The Mammoth (42-37-0) enter the contest on the heels of a 4-1 home loss to Carolina on Saturday. Despite that setback, Utah has won seven of its last 11 games. Goaltender Karel Vejmelka, a key player to watch, has been a workhorse and was in net for that defeat, making 26 saves. In his last 10 appearances, Vejmelka has posted a 6-3-1 record, including a 29-save performance in a 4-1 win over Nashville on April 9. The Flames (32-46-0) have struggled, dropping four of their last five, including a 3-1 loss at Colorado on Thursday. Forward Matt Coronato has been a bright spot for Calgary during this stretch, recording six points (two goals, four assists) in his last 10 games. He had an assist and five shots in the loss to the Avalanche. The season series is split 1-1. Calgary earned a 2-0 shutout victory at home on Dec. 6, 2025, while Utah won 3-1 at home on Oct. 15, 2025. Utah’s offense has been potent recently, scoring four or more goals in six of its last 10 outings. Dylan Guenther, who scored Utah’s lone goal against Carolina, and defenseman Mikhail Sergachev will be relied upon to generate chances. Calgary’s recent form has been inconsistent, mixing high-scoring wins like a 7-3 victory over Vancouver on March 28 with lopsided defeats. Their performance at home, where this game will be played, will be critical. According to National Statistical’s game simulator, the projected final score is Calgary 3, Utah 2. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. MDT. Following this game, Utah returns home to host Winnipeg on Tuesday. Calgary continues a homestand, welcoming Colorado on Tuesday.
