ST. LOUIS (Interstat) ā The surging New York Islanders look to solidify their playoff positioning when they visit the struggling St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center on Tuesday night. The Islanders (36-28-0) enter on a two-game winning streak, including a 2-1 overtime victory at San Jose on Saturday. Center Bo Horvat, a key player to watch, scored the game-winner in that contest and has goals in three of his last five games, registering a team-high six shots on goal against the Sharks. In contrast, the Blues (24-38-0) sit near the bottom of the Western Conference standings despite coming off a 3-2 overtime win at San Jose on Friday. Captain Robert Thomas, the focal point of St. Louisās offense, scored twice in that victory and has been on a tear with four goals and two assists during the Bluesā current three-game winning streak. This matchup is a reversal of the teamsā last meeting on Nov. 22, 2025, when St. Louis edged New York 2-1 on Long Island. The Islanders will aim to avenge that loss as part of a critical road stretch. New York has shown a knack for close games lately, with three of its last five wins coming in overtime. Goaltender Ilya Sorokin, who made 30 saves in the win over San Jose, is expected to start. The Islandersā offense has been inconsistent, however, scoring just one goal in each of their two recent losses. The Blues, winners of three straight, are experiencing a rare bright spot in a difficult season. Thomasās line, often with wingers like Jonatan Berggren and Dylan Holloway ā who had three assists Friday ā will be central to their attempt to extend the streak against a tougher Eastern Conference opponent. Following this game, the Islanders continue a challenging schedule with a back-to-back set against Los Angeles and Calgary starting Friday. The Blues embark on a two-game road trip, visiting Carolina on Thursday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. CDT.
