SEATTLE (Interstat) ā Two Western Conference teams on the outside of the playoff picture look to halt recent slides when the Seattle Kraken host the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night at Climate Pledge Arena. The Kraken (29-33-0) have lost two straight, including a 7-4 home defeat to Ottawa on Saturday. The Predators (28-35-0) have dropped three of their last four, falling 3-2 in Buffalo that same night. Seattle holds a slight edge in the standings and won the previous meeting this season, a 4-1 victory at home on Jan. 1. Both clubs are seeking consistency in the final month of the regular season. A key matchup will feature young forward Zachary LāHeureux for Nashville against Seattleās Eeli Tolvanen. LāHeureux scored a goal in Nashvilleās last game and has been active physically. Tolvanen also found the net in his last outing for the Kraken and has been a steady presence on the wing. Nashvilleās recent struggles include one-goal losses to Columbus, Dallas and Buffalo, though they are coming off a 6-3 win over Boston on March 5. Captain Ryan OāReilly and forward Matthew Wood, who each had points against Buffalo, will be relied upon for offensive production. Seattleās form has been uneven, mixing decisive wins over Vancouver and Toronto with defensive lapses against Ottawa and St. Louis. Defenseman Brandon Montour, who scored against the Senators, and forward Jacob Melanson will aim to provide secondary scoring behind Tolvanen. The game opens a critical three-game homestand for the Kraken before a lengthy road trip. Nashville continues a road swing through the Pacific Division, with games at Vancouver and Edmonton to follow. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. PDT. The teams will meet again in Nashville on March 19.
