WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Interstat) — The surging Anaheim Ducks will look to continue their push for playoff positioning when they visit the struggling Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre on Tuesday night. Anaheim (35-27-0) enters on a three-game point streak (2-0-1) and sits eight points ahead of Winnipeg (26-36-0) in the overall standings. The Ducks are coming off a 6-5 shootout victory over Montreal on Friday, a game in which veteran winger Chris Kreider led the charge with a goal and three assists. Kreider has been a force lately, recording six points in his last four games. The Jets, however, have found a recent spark, winning three straight games, all in extra time. They defeated Vancouver 3-2 in overtime on Saturday, fueled by a goal and two assists from center Mark Scheifele. Scheifele has been dominant during the win streak, tallying three goals and five assists. This matchup is a rematch of a thrilling overtime contest just 11 days prior, on Feb. 27, when the Ducks edged the Jets 5-4 in Anaheim. The Ducks also won the teams’ first meeting this season, 4-1 on Nov. 9. Anaheim’s offense has been potent, scoring four or more goals in seven of their last ten outings. Beyond Kreider, young forwards Cutter Gauthier and Leo Carlsson have provided consistent secondary scoring. Winnipeg’s resurgence has been led by Scheifele’s line and stout goaltending, but they will need to contain a deep Ducks attack to extend their streak. The Jets’ recent success has come after a prolonged slump, offering a late-season bright spot. Following this game, Anaheim continues a four-game road trip Thursday in Toronto.
