OTTAWA (29-30) AT CALGARY (24-35) Preview CALGARY, Alberta (Interstat) — Two teams on the outside of the playoff picture will meet when the Ottawa Senators visit the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome on Thursday night. The Senators (29-30) arrive after a decisive 5-2 road victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, a performance they hope sparks consistency. Ottawa has shown flashes, going 6-3-1 in its last 10 games, but remains below .500 overall. Center Dylan Cozens is Ottawa’s hottest hand, coming off a two-goal, one-assist effort against Toronto. He has been a driving force for an offense that has scored four or more goals in five of its last nine contests. Drake Batherson, who also scored twice against the Maple Leafs, and defenseman Thomas Chabot provide additional scoring threats. The Flames (24-35), meanwhile, are looking to halt a slide after a 3-2 shootout loss in Anaheim on Sunday. They have lost three of their last four and continue to struggle for traction in the Western Conference. Calgary will likely lean on goaltender Devin Cooley, who has been busy and effective recently. He made 34 saves on 36 shots in the loss to Anaheim and stopped 36 of 39 in a 4-3 win over Edmonton on Feb. 4. His performance will be critical against Ottawa’s surging attack. The teams’ only previous meeting this season was a 4-3 shootout win for Ottawa at home on Oct. 30, 2025. For Ottawa, this game opens a three-game Western Canada road trip before returning home. Calgary begins a brief two-game homestand before embarking on a difficult five-game East Coast swing. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST.
