ANAHEIM, Calif. (Interstat) — The surging Anaheim Ducks will look to continue their push for a playoff spot when they host the Western Conference-leading Colorado Avalanche at Honda Center on Tuesday night. The Ducks (33-26-0) enter on a four-game winning streak, including a 3-2 shootout victory over Calgary on Sunday. Rookie forward Cutter Gauthier has been instrumental, scoring twice on a career-high nine shots against the Flames. He has goals in three of his last four games. Colorado (39-19-0), which leads the Central Division, aims to bounce back after a 5-2 loss to Minnesota last Thursday, though it responded with a 3-1 win over Chicago on Saturday. Defenseman Cale Makar, a key Norris Trophy candidate, scored both goals in that victory and has four points in his last four games. This matchup is the third and final regular-season meeting between the teams. The series is split, with Colorado winning 4-1 at home on Nov. 11 and Anaheim securing a 2-1 shootout win in Denver on Jan. 21. The Avalanche boast one of the league’s most potent offenses, backed by a strong record, but have shown recent inconsistency, going 5-5-0 in their last 10 contests. The Ducks, firmly in the wild-card hunt, are 7-3-0 over the same span, showcasing an improved attack that has averaged 4.2 goals per game during their current win streak. According to National Statistical’s game simulator, Anaheim is projected to win 5-2, a prediction that underscores the Ducks’ recent form and home-ice advantage. The game will be a test of Anaheim’s resurgence against Colorado’s established elite status. Following this contest, the Ducks host the New York Islanders on Wednesday. The Avalanche continue their road trip Friday in Dallas.
