WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Interstat) — Two teams mired near the bottom of the NHL standings will meet Tuesday when the Chicago Blackhawks visit the Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre. The Blackhawks (23-37-0) and Jets (23-36-0) enter with nearly identical records, each seeking to build on rare recent victories. Chicago is coming off a 4-0 road shutout of the Utah Mammoth on Sunday, while Winnipeg earned a point in a 2-1 overtime loss at San Jose the same day. A key player to watch for Chicago is forward Teuvo Teravainen, who is riding a hot streak. He scored two goals in the win over Utah and has recorded points in three of his last four games, tallying two goals and three assists in that span. For Winnipeg, forward Morgan Barron will look to provide a spark. He scored the Jets’ lone goal in the OT loss to San Jose and has been a physical presence, registering three hits in that contest. The season series is split 1-1. The Jets dominated the first meeting with a 6-3 home win on Oct. 30, 2025, but the Blackhawks responded with a 2-0 shutout victory in Chicago on Jan. 19. Both clubs have struggled for consistency. Prior to its win in Utah, Chicago had lost five of its previous six games. Winnipeg has managed only two wins in its last seven outings (2-4-1), though both victories came in overtime. The game represents a critical opportunity for either team to gain ground and string together positive results as the regular season enters its final stretch. Following this contest, Chicago begins a four-game homestand Friday against Vancouver, while Winnipeg opens a three-game homestand Thursday against Tampa Bay. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. Central.
