Preview: Flames at Sharks, Thursday, February 26, 2026 SAN JOSE, Calif. (Interstat) — Two Pacific Division teams looking to stabilize inconsistent seasons will meet when the Calgary Flames visit the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night at SAP Pavilion. The Flames (23-33-0) arrive after a 4-3 victory over the rival Edmonton Oilers on Feb. 4, a win that snapped a seven-game losing streak. Goaltender Devin Cooley made 36 saves in that outing, while defenseman Zach Whitecloud and center Nazem Kadri each notched two assists. Despite the recent skid, Calgary has won two of its last three, including a 3-2 home win over these same Sharks on Jan. 31. San Jose (27-28-0) enters following a 4-2 road loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Feb. 4, concluding a challenging five-game road trip with a 2-3-0 record. Center Philipp Kurashev and defenseman Timothy Liljegren scored for the Sharks in the defeat, with goaltender Yaroslav Askarov stopping 38 shots. The Sharks’ form has been uneven, mixing decisive wins over teams like the New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks with lopsided losses. The season series between the clubs is tied 2-1 in favor of the home team. After the Sharks’ 6-3 win in San Jose on Dec. 16, 2025, and the Flames’ 2-0 shutout victory in Calgary on Nov. 13, 2025, the Flames took the most recent encounter last month. Calgary’s offense, which managed just 11 goals during its seven-game slide, showed signs of life in the win over Edmonton. Kadri’s playmaking will be key against a San Jose team that has allowed 18 goals in its last four games. The Sharks will rely on Askarov, who has shouldered the load in net, and a scoring attack led by Kurashev to exploit a Flames defense that ranks near the bottom of the league. Both teams are on the outside of the Western Conference playoff picture and will view this matchup as a critical opportunity to gain ground. The game begins a three-game California road swing for Calgary, while San Jose opens a brief two-game homestand before hosting Edmonton on Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PST.
