TAMPA, Fla. (Interstat) — A surging Buffalo Sabres squad, riding the momentum of a high-scoring victory, will face a stern test against the Eastern Conference heavyweight Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night at Amalie Arena. The Sabres (32-23-0) arrive in Florida after a 5-3 road win over the Panthers on Monday, their seventh victory in the last 10 games. Center Peyton Krebs was instrumental in that win, notching a goal and two assists to continue his recent offensive surge. Over his last five games, Krebs has recorded three goals and five assists, emerging as a key catalyst for Buffalo’s attack. They will need that firepower against a Lightning team (35-18-0) that sits near the top of the conference standings and is 7-1-2 in its last 10 contests. Tampa Bay is coming off a thrilling 6-5 shootout win over Boston on Sunday, powered by another dominant performance from star winger Nikita Kucherov. The former Hart Trophy winner tallied a goal and three assists in that game, bringing his point total to an impressive 13 (4 goals, 9 assists) over his last seven outings. The matchup pits Buffalo’s recent hot streak against Tampa Bay’s established consistency at home. The Lightning have been particularly stout on home ice, having allowed just three total goals in their last three games at Amalie Arena.
