BUFFALO, N.Y. (Interstat) — The surging Buffalo Sabres will look to extend their recent mastery over the struggling Toronto Maple Leafs when the Atlantic Division rivals meet Tuesday night at Scotiabank Arena. The Sabres (29-22-0) enter on a three-game win streak, including a dominant 5-0 road victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday. Goaltender Alex Lyon, a key player to watch, was flawless in that shutout, stopping all 26 shots he faced. Lyon has won his last two starts, allowing just two goals on 44 shots. In contrast, the Maple Leafs (24-28-0) are mired in a four-game losing skid (0-3-1), most recently a 4-1 home loss to Colorado on Sunday. Toronto’s netminder, Joseph Woll, has faced heavy pressure during the slump, including a 36-save performance in the defeat to the Avalanche. While Woll posted shutouts earlier in January, he has allowed 16 goals over his last four appearances. The season series is split 1-1, with each team winning on the other’s home ice in late October. Toronto earned a 4-3 overtime win at home on Oct. 25, one night after Buffalo secured a 5-3 victory at KeyBank Center. Buffalo’s offense has been potent during its 8-2-0 run over the past 10 games, scoring four or more goals in eight of those contests. Forwards like Jason Zucker, who had two goals against the Islanders, and defenseman Rasmus Dahlin have provided consistent scoring support. Toronto, seeking to stabilize its season, will need to reverse a troubling pattern on home ice, where it has lost three straight. The Maple Leafs’ upcoming schedule offers little respite, as they embark on a four-game Western Canada road trip following this contest. Buffalo begins a four-game homestand after this game, hosting Los Angeles on Thursday. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026.
