GOLDEN KNIGHTS, MAPLE LEAFS MEET IN REMATCH OF HIGH-SCORING AFFAIR TORONTO (Interstat) — The Vegas Golden Knights and Toronto Maple Leafs will meet for the second time in nine days Friday night at Scotiabank Arena, looking to build momentum after recent struggles. The matchup features two teams hovering around the .500 mark. The visiting Golden Knights are 24-24-0, while the Maple Leafs are 24-26-0. Their last meeting on Jan. 15 in Vegas was a wild, 6-5 overtime victory for the Golden Knights. Vegas goaltender Adin Hill earned the win with 23 saves on 28 shots, while Toronto’s Joseph Woll took the loss despite 27 saves. Both netminders are expected to be in focus again. Hill, a player to watch for Vegas, is coming off a 15-save performance in a 2-1 loss to Philadelphia on Monday. For Toronto, Woll has been busy, making 39 saves in a 2-1 overtime loss to Detroit on Wednesday. In his last 10 appearances, Woll is 5-4-1. The Golden Knights have lost two of their last three, including that defeat to the Flyers where Tomas Hertl scored the lone goal. Prior to that, they had won five straight, a streak that began with the overtime win against these Maple Leafs. Toronto has lost three of its last four, including the OT loss to Detroit and a 6-3 defeat to Minnesota on Monday. Their offense, which produced five goals in the previous meeting with Vegas, will aim to break out of a slump that has seen them score just five total goals in their last three games. According to National Statistical’s game simulator, the projected final score is 3-2 in favor of Toronto. Following Friday’s game, the Golden Knights continue a road trip in Ottawa on Sunday. The Maple Leafs remain home to host the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday.
