Preview: Sharks at Panthers, Monday, Jan. 19, 2026 SUNRISE, Fla. (Interstat) — Two teams hovering around the .500 mark will look to build momentum when the San Jose Sharks visit the Florida Panthers in a cross-conference NHL matchup Monday night at Amerant Bank Arena. Both clubs enter with identical 24-win records, though the Panthers (24-22-0) have played one fewer game than the Sharks (24-23-0). Each is coming off a lopsided road loss Friday, with San Jose falling 4-2 in Detroit and Florida suffering a 9-1 defeat in Carolina. The Sharks will lean on the hot hand of rookie center Macklin Celebrini. The 2024 first-overall pick has been a driving force for San Jose, recording 15 points (5 goals, 10 assists) in his last 10 games. He is coming off a three-game point streak, including a three-assist performance in a 5-4 overtime win against Dallas on Jan. 10. Florida will counter with defenseman Uvis Balinskis, who provided one of the few bright spots in the blowout loss to Carolina by scoring the Panthers’ lone goal. The blueliner has points in two of his last three games. San Jose has won three of its last five contests, showing resilience with overtime victories against Dallas and Los Angeles earlier this month. Their offense has averaged 3.6 goals per game over that 10-game stretch. The Panthers, meanwhile, have struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses over their past six games. Their defensive structure, a hallmark in recent seasons, has shown cracks, allowing four or more goals in four of their last six outings. This is the second and final meeting of the season between the clubs. San Jose won the first matchup 3-1 at home on Nov. 8, 2025. Following this contest, the Sharks continue a four-game road trip Tuesday in Tampa Bay. The Panthers begin a three-game road swing Thursday in Winnipeg. Game Notes: Sharks C Will Smith and RW Collin Graf each scored in the loss to Detroit. … Panthers C Luke Kunin logged a team-high two penalty minutes against Carolina. … San Jose’s power play, fueled by Celebrini, has connected in seven of the last ten games. … Florida is 13-10-0 on home ice this season. … The Sharks have not played in Sunrise since the 2022-23 season.
