Preview: Devils at Flames CALGARY, Alberta (Interstat) — The New Jersey Devils look to build on a dramatic overtime victory when they visit the struggling Calgary Flames in a cross-conference matchup Monday night at Scotiabank Saddledome. The Devils (24-23-0) arrive after a 3-2 overtime win against Seattle on Wednesday, which snapped a two-game skid. New Jersey has shown inconsistency, sandwiching a five-game losing streak between two separate three-game win streaks since late December. They sit just outside the Eastern Conference playoff picture. Calgary (21-27-0) enters on a modest upswing, having won two straight, including a 4-2 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday. Despite the recent wins, the Flames remain near the bottom of the Western Conference standings, having lost seven of their previous 10 contests. A key player to watch for New Jersey is winger Jesper Bratt. He has been a consistent offensive catalyst, recording four goals and two assists over his last 10 games, including a two-goal performance against Minnesota on Jan. 12. For Calgary, forward Adam Klapka is coming off one of his best games of the season, notching a goal and an assist in the win over the Islanders. The 6-foot-8 winger has points in two of his last three outings and provides a significant physical presence. The Devils have struggled on the road recently, going 3-6-0 in their last nine away from home. Calgary has been marginally better at home, posting a 4-6-0 record in its last 10 at the Saddledome. This game opens a critical four-game Western Canada road trip for New Jersey, which faces Edmonton on Tuesday. Calgary begins a three-game homestand, with Pittsburgh visiting on Wednesday. In net, both teams have decisions to make. New Jersey’s Connor Brown and Paul Cotter contributed to the recent OT win, while Calgary’s Dustin Wolf made 28 saves in Saturday’s victory. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST.
