Avalanche, Golden Knights Meet in Vegas in Post-Holiday Showdown LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — The surging Colorado Avalanche will look to continue their dominance over the struggling Vegas Golden Knights when the teams meet Saturday at T-Mobile Arena. Colorado (27-9-0) enters on a hot streak, having won eight of its last nine games, including a 1-0 shutout of Utah on Tuesday. The Avalanche boast the NHL’s best road record at 14-3-0. Vegas (17-18-0), meanwhile, has lost three of its last four and sits below .500, seeking consistency on home ice. A key matchup will be in net, where Colorado’s Scott Wedgewood is expected to start. Wedgewood has been stellar, posting a 5-0-1 record in his last six appearances with a .955 save percentage, highlighted by a 32-save shutout in his last outing. He backstopped Colorado to a 4-2 win over Vegas on Oct. 31 in the teams’ only previous meeting this season. The Golden Knights will counter with forward Mitchell Marner, who has been a bright spot during the team’s uneven stretch. Marner has recorded 10 points (four goals, six assists) in his last nine games, including a two-goal performance in Tuesday’s 7-2 rout of San Jose. Colorado’s recent success has been fueled by balanced scoring and tight defense, allowing just 1.78 goals per game over its last nine. Vegas has been prone to defensive lapses, surrendering four or more goals in three of its last four losses. The Avalanche continue a three-game road trip before returning home to face Los Angeles on Monday. The Golden Knights open a brief two-game homestand, with Minnesota visiting Monday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST.
