ST. LOUIS (Interstat) — Two Central Division rivals mired at the bottom of the Western Conference standings will meet Saturday when the St. Louis Blues host the Nashville Predators at Enterprise Center. The matchup features teams with nearly identical struggles. The visiting Predators (16-20-0) sit just two points ahead of the Blues (14-24-0) in the conference, making this a critical game for both clubs to gain ground. Nashville enters with momentum, having won three of its last four, including a 3-2 overtime victory at Minnesota on Tuesday. Goaltender Juuse Saros has been central to their recent success, posting a 7-2-0 record in his last nine starts with a .932 save percentage. He has dominated the Blues this season, winning both meetings decisively: a 7-2 victory on Dec. 11 and a 5-2 win on Dec. 15. “We have to find a way to solve Saros,“ Blues defenseman Justin Faulk said. “He’s seen everything we’ve thrown at him lately, so we need to be smarter, get more traffic, and capitalize on our chances.“ Faulk will be a key figure for St. Louis. The veteran blueliner has been a bright spot during a difficult stretch, contributing four goals and two assists in his last 10 games. The Blues are looking to rebound from a 4-1 loss at Tampa Bay on Monday, which snapped a brief two-game winning streak. For Nashville, offensive leaders Steven Stamkos and Ryan O’Reilly, who combined for three points in the win over Minnesota, will look to continue their production against a Blues team they have outscored 12-4 in two games this month. The Blues hope home ice provides a reversal of fortune. They are 8-11-0 at Enterprise Center this season, while the Predators are 7-12-0 on the road. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST. Following the game, Nashville continues a road trip Monday in Utah, while St. Louis hosts Buffalo on Monday.
