JETS, MAMMOTH MEET IN SALT LAKE CITY SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — Two Western Conference teams looking to steady their seasons will meet when the Winnipeg Jets visit the Utah Mammoth at Delta Center on Sunday. The Jets (15-18-0) arrive after a frustrating 1-0 road loss to the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday, their fourth defeat in five games. Winnipeg’s offense has sputtered, scoring two or fewer goals in regulation in six of its last eight contests. Defenseman Neal Pionk has been a bright spot, active at both ends of the ice. He recorded a team-high four shots in the loss to St. Louis and has a goal and six points in his last 15 games while consistently contributing physically. The Mammoth (17-19-0) are coming off a more positive result, a 4-1 road victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday. That win snapped a two-game skid and showcased the team’s offensive capability when key players are producing. Utah will rely on forward Clayton Keller, who had a goal and an assist against Detroit. Keller has been a consistent point producer, registering at least one point in seven of his last 10 games, including a three-point night in a 7-0 win over Anaheim on Dec. 3. This is the second meeting between the clubs this season. Utah earned a 3-2 victory in Winnipeg on Oct. 26, giving the Mammoth an early edge in the season series. The game represents a chance for both clubs to build momentum before the holiday break. Winnipeg will begin a four-game homestand after this contest, while Utah hits the road for a game at Colorado on Tuesday before returning home. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST Sunday. The Jets will look to solve their scoring woes against a Utah team that has shown both vulnerability and resilience on home ice this season.
