ANAHEM, Calif. (Interstat) — Two Western Conference teams on the playoff bubble will clash Friday when the Dallas Stars visit the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center. The Stars (22-12-0) enter with a slight edge in the standings over the Ducks (20-14-0), but Anaheim holds home-ice advantage and momentum from a recent head-to-head victory. The Ducks defeated the Stars 7-5 in Dallas on Nov. 6 in their only meeting so far this season. Dallas is looking to build on a 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Monday, which snapped a two-game skid. Center Wyatt Johnston, a key player to watch, had a goal and an assist in that victory. Johnston has been a consistent offensive catalyst, recording 13 points (5 goals, 8 assists) in his last 10 games, including a three-goal, four-point outburst against Ottawa on Nov. 30. Anaheim is coming off a 4-3 overtime loss at Columbus on Tuesday, halting a two-game win streak. Veteran center Mikael Granlund, who had a goal and an assist against the Blue Jackets, remains a central figure for the Ducks’ attack. He has points in two of his last three contests. The Stars have been strong on the road lately, going 5-2-0 in their last seven away games. The Ducks have been formidable at Honda Center, however, posting a 7-3-0 record in their last 10 home outings. According to National Statistical’s game simulator, the projected final score is Anaheim 4, Dallas 3. Following this matchup, the Ducks host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. The Stars return home to face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday.
