SEATTLE (Interstat) — Two Pacific Division teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday night when the Los Angeles Kings visit the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena. The Kings (13-15-0) arrive fresh off their most dominant performance of the season, a 6-0 shutout of the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. Defenseman Brandt Clarke led the charge with two goals and four shots on net, continuing a strong offensive stretch from the blue line. Over his last 10 games, Clarke has three goals and two assists, emerging as a key offensive catalyst for a Los Angeles team that has struggled for consistent scoring. Seattle (11-15-0) looks to halt a four-game losing skid, most recently a 4-3 home loss to Detroit on Saturday. Veteran defenseman Adam Larsson provided a bright spot in that defeat, scoring a goal and adding an assist. Larsson has been a physical presence and occasional contributor on offense, with two goals and two assists in his last 10 outings. Both clubs sit outside the Western Conference playoff picture, making this a contest with added importance early in the schedule. The Kings have shown a Jekyll-and-Hyde tendency, following a listless 2-1 loss to Chicago last Thursday with their explosive six-goal outburst against the same team two days later. Goaltender Darcy Kuemper, who stopped all 23 shots in the shutout, is expected to start. The Kraken, meanwhile, are desperate to rediscover their form from a three-game winning streak in mid-November. Their defense has faltered during the current slide, allowing 18 goals over the four losses. Slowing down Clarke and a Kings power play that went 2-for-4 on Saturday will be a priority. This is the first of two meetings between the teams in a 13-day span. They will meet again in Los Angeles on Dec. 23. The Kings continue a three-game road trip in Dallas on Monday, while the Kraken embark on a brief trip to face the Utah Mammoth on Friday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST.
