Preview: Golden Knights at Rangers, Sunday, December 7, 2025 NEW YORK (Interstat) — Two teams hovering around the .500 mark will look to gain traction when the Vegas Golden Knights visit the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. The Golden Knights (13-14-0) arrive after a 3-0 shutout victory in New Jersey on Friday. The Rangers (15-15-0) are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to Colorado at home on Saturday. A key matchup will feature Vegas goaltender Akira Schmid against New York’s top offensive weapon, Artemi Panarin. Schmid has been a workhorse for Vegas, starting eight of the team’s last nine games. He is 4-1-3 in that stretch, including a 24-save shutout against the Devils and a 17-save win over these same Rangers on Nov. 18. Panarin, meanwhile, has been consistently productive for New York. The winger has recorded points in seven of his last ten games, tallying five goals and eight assists in that span. He scored a goal in Saturday’s loss to Colorado. The Nov. 18 meeting in Vegas sets the recent precedent, a 3-2 Golden Knights victory where Schmid outdueled Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin. Shea Theodore had a goal and an assist for Vegas in that contest, while Panarin registered an assist for New York. Both clubs have experienced inconsistent results. Since beating the Rangers last month, Vegas is 4-3-2, including a recent 4-1 loss to Montreal. The Rangers have gone 5-4-1 in their last ten, showing potency with a 6-2 win in Boston but also suffering lopsided losses to Colorado and Tampa Bay. According to National Statistical’s game simulator, the Rangers are projected to earn a measure of revenge with a 3-2 victory on home ice. Following this contest, Vegas begins a three-game road trip through the New York area and Pennsylvania, facing the Islanders on Tuesday. The Rangers hit the road for a single game in Chicago on Wednesday before returning to Madison Square Garden for a three-game homestand. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
