ANAHEIM, Calif. (Interstat) ā The Anaheim Ducks will look to continue their strong start and avenge a recent loss when they host the struggling Chicago Blackhawks at Honda Center on Sunday. The Ducks (17-11-0) enter with a six-point edge over the Blackhawks (12-15-0) in the standings and are coming off a 4-3 shootout victory over the Washington Capitals on Friday. Anaheimās offense has been potent, led by forward Cutter Gauthier, who had a goal in that win, and the physical presence of Ross Johnston, who added a goal and an assist. Chicago arrives after a 2-1 road win against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday, a victory anchored by goaltender Spencer Knight. Knight stopped 26 of 27 shots and has been a bright spot for the Blackhawks, who have won just three of their last 10 games. Knight is expected to start again Sunday. He backstopped Chicago to a 5-3 home win over these same Ducks just last Sunday, making 23 saves. In his last five appearances, Knight has a .939 save percentage, giving Chicago a chance nightly despite its sub-.500 record. The Blackhawks will also look for continued production from defenseman Wyatt Kaiser, who scored against Los Angeles, and center Frank Nazar, who had two assists. This matchup marks the third meeting this season. After Anaheimās 2-1 overtime loss in Chicago on Oct. 19, the Blackhawks took the more recent contest on Nov. 30. The Ducks, however, have been strong at home with an 11-4-0 record at Honda Center. According to National Statisticalās game simulator, the projected final score is a 3-2 victory for Anaheim. Following this game, the Ducks embark on a five-game East Coast road trip beginning Tuesday in Pittsburgh. The Blackhawks return home to host the New York Rangers on Wednesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m. PST.
