CALGARY, Alberta (Interstat) — Two teams looking to build on rare victories will meet when the Utah Mammoth visit the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday. Utah (13-15-0) arrives after a dominant 7-0 road win over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday, its most lopsided victory of the season. Calgary (10-19-0) is coming off a 4-1 home win against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday. Both clubs sit outside the current playoff picture in the Western Conference. The Mammoth will rely on the hot hand of forward JJ Peterka, who recorded two goals and two assists in the rout of Anaheim. Over his last five games, Peterka has three goals and two assists. His performance will be crucial for a Utah team that has lost three of its last four contests aside from the Anaheim blowout. The Flames will counter with defenseman Rasmus Andersson, who is coming off a three-point performance (one goal, one assist) against Minnesota. Andersson has been a consistent offensive contributor from the blue line, tallying two goals and seven assists in his last 10 games while playing a physical style. This is the second meeting between the teams this season. Utah won the first matchup 3-1 at home on Oct. 15. The Mammoth’s recent success, however, has been fleeting on the road, where they are just 2-3-0 in their last five away games. Calgary has struggled to find consistency, alternating wins and losses over its past six games. Goaltender Dustin Wolf, who made 26 saves in the win over Minnesota, is expected to start. According to National Statistical’s game simulator, Calgary is projected to win 3-1. Following this game, Utah returns home to host the Los Angeles Kings on Monday. Calgary continues a homestand against the Buffalo Sabres on Monday.
