ANAHEIM, Calif. (Interstat) — Two teams on opposite trajectories will meet when the Washington Capitals visit the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center on Friday night. The Capitals (17-11) arrive riding a five-game winning streak, including a 7-1 rout in San Jose on Wednesday. Rookie Ryan Leonard led the charge with two goals and two assists, while Alex Ovechkin added two goals. Washington has outscored opponents 26-9 during its streak. Conversely, the Ducks (16-11) are looking to rebound from a 7-0 home loss to Utah on Wednesday, a game where they managed only 17 shots. Anaheim had won three of four prior to that defeat, including a 4-1 road victory in St. Louis. The matchup features two of the league’s hotter teams, separated by just one win in the standings. Washington’s surging offense, which has scored four or more goals in seven of its last eight games, will test an Anaheim team that has been inconsistent defensively. National Statistical’s game simulator projects a 4-3 victory for the Ducks. Following the game, Washington returns home to face Columbus on Sunday. Anaheim remains at home to host Chicago the same day.
