DENVER (Interstat) — The Colorado Avalanche, riding a dominant home victory, will host the struggling Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday at Ball Arena in a National Hockey League matchup. The Avalanche (18-7-0) are near the top of the league standings and are coming off a 7-2 rout of the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. Their top line of Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog and Brock Nelson combined for five goals and five assists in the win. Vancouver (10-16-0) arrives in Denver after a 2-1 overtime loss in Los Angeles on Saturday, extending its winless streak to three games. The Canucks have lost eight of their last 10 contests. The teams last met on Nov. 9 in Vancouver, where the Avalanche secured a 5-4 overtime victory. Following this game, Colorado begins a four-game road trip on Thursday against the New York Islanders. Vancouver returns home to face the Utah Mammoth on Friday.
