Preview
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Interstat) — A critical AFC South showdown with significant playoff implications is set for Sunday when the Indianapolis Colts visit the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium. Both teams enter the Week 14 contest with identical 8-4 records, tied atop the division. The result will not only break that tie but could prove decisive in the race for the postseason. The Colts are looking to rebound from a tough 20-16 home loss to Houston last Sunday. Quarterback Daniel Jones, a key player to watch, passed for 201 yards and two touchdowns in that defeat but completed just 14 of 27 attempts. Over his last three games, Jones has shown dual-threat capability, rushing for 70 yards and a touchdown while accounting for five passing scores, but Indianapolis has lost two of those three. The Jaguars, meanwhile, are riding a three-game winning streak, most recently a dominant 25-3 road victory at Tennessee. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been efficient during the surge, throwing seven touchdown passes against one interception over the last three contests. In the win over the Titans, he passed for 229 yards and two scores. Indianapolis has struggled recently, dropping two of its last three, including an overtime loss to Kansas City. Jacksonville has won five of its last six, with the lone blemish a shootout loss at Houston. According to National Statistical’s game simulator, the Jaguars are projected to win 30-24. Betting markets align, installing Jacksonville as a 1.5-point favorite. The over/under is set at 46.5 points. This marks the first of two meetings between the rivals in a four-week span; they will face each other again in Indianapolis on Dec. 28. The season series could ultimately decide the division champion. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST on Sunday, Dec. 7.
