HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Interstat) — A surging Liberty squad will face its toughest Conference USA test of the season when it meets league-leading Louisiana Tech in a women’s basketball showdown Friday at T. M. Elmore Gymnasium. The No. 25 Lady Techsters (25-5, 15-2 CUSA) enter the contest on an eight-game winning streak and are coming off a dominant 72-43 victory over Delaware on Wednesday. They have already secured the regular-season conference title. Liberty (18-12, 12-5), the visiting Lady Flames, have won three straight and four of their last five, including an 89-57 rout of Sam Houston on Thursday. Louisiana Tech won the first meeting this season, 86-72, on Jan. 11 in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Lady Techsters have been led all season by guard Paris Bradley, who is playing at an elite level. She scored a season-high 25 points in just 28 minutes against Delaware and poured in 26 points in 41 minutes during an overtime win over UTEP on March 7. Liberty will counter with its own standout guard, Avery Mills. She has averaged 13 points over her last three games, including a 17-point performance in a win over Delaware on March 6. Her scoring and playmaking will be crucial for the Lady Flames to keep pace. The game, a late addition to the schedule at a neutral site, serves as a final tune-up before the conference tournament. For Louisiana Tech, it’s a chance to solidify its NCAA tournament seeding. For Liberty, a victory over the nationally ranked league champions would provide a massive resume boost and significant momentum heading into postseason play. Tipoff is set for Friday, March 13. The Conference USA Women’s Basketball Championship begins next week.
