LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — A West Coast Conference championship and likely an NCAA Tournament seed hang in the balance when Gonzaga and Oregon State meet in the women’s basketball title game Tuesday night. The top-seeded Bulldogs (23-9) and second-seeded Beavers (23-10) split their regular-season series in dramatic fashion, setting the stage for a rubber match at the WCC tournament. Gonzaga, playing as the home team at T-Mobile Arena, enters having dominated Santa Clara 88-60 in Monday’s semifinal. The Bulldogs’ offense is powered by guard Allie Turner, who scored 17 points in that win and is averaging 15.5 points over her last six games. She had 15 points in Gonzaga’s overtime loss at Oregon State in January. The Beavers advanced with a 73-67 semifinal win over Loyola Marymount, led by a 22-point performance from guard Jenna Villa. Villa has been on a tear, averaging 17.1 points over her last eight contests. Her versatility was on full display in a March 8 quarterfinal win over Portland, where she posted 10 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two blocks. The head-to-head results this season could not be more contrasting. On Jan. 22 in Corvallis, Oregon State outlasted Gonzaga 92-87 in overtime. Just two weeks later on Feb. 5 in Spokane, the Bulldogs delivered a commanding 67-37 defensive masterpiece, holding the Beavers to a season-low in points. Both teams boast identical 23-win records, but Gonzaga seeks its first conference tournament title since 2023. Oregon State, in its first WCC championship game appearance, aims to secure its NCAA Tournament berth with an automatic bid. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. PDT. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
