HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to salvage challenging seasons will meet with a championship bid on the line when Kennesaw State faces Delaware in the Conference USA women’s basketball tournament on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The eighth-seeded Owls (12-16) and seventh-seeded Blue Hens (12-18) will tip off at the Von Braun Center, five weeks after Delaware secured a 65-60 overtime victory at Kennesaw State on Feb. 5. That result is indicative of the narrow margins defining both teams’ campaigns, setting the stage for a tightly contested tournament opener. Kennesaw State enters having lost five of its last six games, including a 70-62 overtime defeat at Jacksonville State on Saturday. The Owls are led by forward Latazia Williamson, who scored 21 points and blocked three shots in that loss. Williamson has been a consistent interior presence, averaging 12.1 points over her last seven contests, including a 16-point, six-rebound performance in a win at Western Kentucky last month. Delaware has lost six consecutive games since its last victory on Feb. 12. The Blue Hens fell 71-64 at Liberty last Friday, despite 19 points from guard Lay Fantroy. Fantroy has been a bright spot during the skid, averaging 14.0 points per game over the last seven outings. Her backcourt production will be crucial against an Owls defense that allows an average of 62.3 points per game. Both teams have struggled offensively, with Kennesaw State averaging 57.8 points and Delaware 58.2 points per game this season. The matchup will likely hinge on which squad can find consistent scoring outside of its top option and capitalize on limited possessions. The winner will advance to face the tournament’s second seed in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday. For two programs with identical conference records during the regular season, Tuesday’s game represents a final chance to extend their year and rewrite a narrative of near misses.
