Preview: San Diego State Aztecs at Air Force Falcons AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (Interstat) — The surging San Diego State women’s basketball team looks to extend its winning streak when it visits the Air Force Falcons in a Mountain West Conference matchup Tuesday night at Clune Arena. The Aztecs (24-4, 14-1 MW) enter on an eight-game conference winning streak following a 70-51 home victory over Wyoming on Saturday. Guard Kaelyn Hamilton, a key contributor off the bench, scored 18 points in that win and has averaged 11.4 points over her last seven games. Forward Naomi Panganiban added a team-high 20 points against the Cowgirls. San Diego State, which boasts one of the nation’s top records, last lost on Feb. 4 at Grand Canyon. Its defense has been a hallmark, holding opponents to an average of 58.2 points during the current streak. Air Force (13-16, 6-9) seeks to build momentum after a 69-61 overtime home win against Wyoming last Wednesday, though it fell 66-52 at Colorado State on Saturday. The Falcons are 8-6 at home this season. Guard Alexis Cortez, who scored 10 points in the loss to the Rams, will be a focal point for the Falcons’ offense. The teams met earlier this season, with San Diego State securing a 62-51 victory at home on Dec. 31. The Aztecs have dominated the recent series, winning the last 11 meetings. For Air Force, an upset would provide a significant boost heading into the conference tournament. The Falcons will need a strong defensive effort to contain the Aztecs’ balanced scoring attack and find consistent offense beyond guard Milahnie Perry, who had 17 points against Colorado State. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST Tuesday. San Diego State can clinch at least a share of the Mountain West regular-season title with a victory.
