Preview: Grand Canyon Antelopes at Wyoming Cowboys BOSLER, Wyo. (Interstat) â Two teams looking to build momentum at the end of challenging seasons will meet Tuesday when the Grand Canyon Antelopes visit the Wyoming Cowboys in a non-conference womenâs basketball game at Arena-Auditorium. Grand Canyon (12-17) enters on a three-game winning streak, its longest of the season, after a 65-52 victory over San Jose State on Saturday. The Antelopesâ defense has been key, holding opponents to an average of 45.7 points during the streak. A spark off the bench in that win was guard Diamond Wright, who scored a season-high 18 points in just 14 minutes. Her efficiency will be crucial for an Antelopes squad that previously defeated Wyoming 57-47 in Phoenix on Jan. 31. Wyoming (9-19) seeks to halt a three-game skid, most recently a 70-51 loss at San Diego State. The Cowboys have struggled offensively, failing to reach 62 points in eight of their last nine games. The Cowboys will lean heavily on forward Jane Rumpf, who is coming off a 27-point performance against the Aztecs. Rumpf has been a consistent bright spot, averaging 16.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over her last six contests. Containing her will be a primary focus for the Antelopesâ defense. Despite their records, both teams have shown recent competitiveness in close games. Wyoming took Air Force to overtime on Feb. 25, while Grand Canyonâs three losses preceding its current streak were by an average of just 4.3 points. Tuesdayâs matchup will be the final non-conference tune-up for both programs before conference tournament play begins. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time.
