JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Interstat) — A surging Jacksonville women’s basketball team will look to continue its dominance over crosstown rival North Florida when the ASUN Conference foes meet Friday night at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The Dolphins (19-7) have won eight of their last nine games and sit near the top of the conference standings. They defeated the Ospreys (9-18) 58-52 just two weeks ago in the teams’ first meeting of the season on Feb. 14. Jacksonville’s balanced attack is led by guard Tatum Brown, who is coming off a 20-point, 8-rebound performance in a win over Florida Gulf Coast on Feb. 21. Over her last eight games, Brown is averaging 13.8 points and 5.6 rebounds. North Florida, mired near the bottom of the ASUN, snapped a six-game losing streak with a 62-51 home victory over Queens (N.C.) on Feb. 21. The Ospreys are led by guard Alexa Washington, who posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds in that win. Washington’s production has been variable, but she averages 34 minutes per game and is a central figure in the Ospreys’ offense. The Dolphins have controlled the recent series and present a significant challenge for North Florida. Jacksonville boasts a potent offense, having scored 70 or more points in six of its last nine contests. Conversely, the Ospreys have struggled to find consistent scoring, failing to reach 70 points in 12 consecutive games. For North Florida to pull the upset, it will need a major performance from Washington and must improve its ball security after committing 18 turnovers in the first matchup. Jacksonville will rely on its defensive pressure and the scoring of Brown and supporting players like Makiya Miller to complete the season sweep. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026. The game is part of the ASUN Conference regular-season schedule.
