Preview: Struggling Sun Belt Teams Meet as Georgia State Hosts Louisiana-Lafayette ATLANTA (Interstat) — Two Sun Belt Conference women’s basketball teams seeking to halt lengthy slides will meet Friday when Georgia State hosts Louisiana-Lafayette. The Panthers (9-20) have lost six consecutive games, most recently falling 92-84 in overtime to Coastal Carolina on Tuesday. The visiting Ragin’ Cajuns (4-24) have dropped 10 of their last 11, including a 92-66 defeat to Arkansas State on Saturday. The 8 p.m. EST tipoff at GSU Sports Arena will feature a matchup of two of the league’s top individual scorers. Georgia State is led by guard Crystal Henderson, who averages 18.2 points per game in conference play. She is coming off a 21-point, 4-assist performance against Coastal Carolina and has scored 16 or more points in five of her last six outings. For Louisiana-Lafayette, forward Imani Daniel has been a consistent bright spot. She recorded a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds in the loss to Arkansas State and poured in 24 points in a Feb. 12 game at Troy. Daniel averages a team-high 14.1 points in Sun Belt action. Beyond the star players, both teams have struggled with consistency. The Panthers’ defense has allowed an average of 81.8 points during their six-game skid. The Ragin’ Cajuns, meanwhile, have been plagued by offensive droughts, failing to reach 70 points in 12 straight games. In their only meeting last season, Georgia State secured a 71-59 victory in Atlanta. Friday’s contest represents one of the final opportunities for each squad to build momentum before the Sun Belt Conference tournament next month.
