PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Drexel Dragons, firmly in the upper tier of the Colonial Athletic Association, will look to complete a regular-season sweep when they host the struggling Northeastern Huskies in a women’s basketball matchup Friday night. The game at Daskalakis Athletic Center pits teams on opposite trajectories. Drexel (17-8 overall) enters with momentum from a 63-61 road win at William & Mary last Sunday and has won five of its last six contests. Northeastern (7-18) seeks to halt a two-game skid after falling 70-57 at Elon. Drexel secured a 65-56 home victory over the Huskies just under four weeks ago on Feb. 1. In that game, Dragons guard Laine McGurk dominated with 24 points and five rebounds. McGurk remains a focal point, averaging 16.1 points over her last seven games, including a 15-point, six-rebound performance in the win over William & Mary. Northeastern will counter with forward Justice Tramble, who recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the first meeting against Drexel. Tramble has been a consistent contributor, scoring in double figures in five of her last seven outings. She led the Huskies with 12 points in their most recent loss to Elon. The Dragons’ defense has been a cornerstone of their success, holding opponents to 60 points or fewer in 12 games this season. They limited Northeastern to 33.9% shooting in the February encounter. The Huskies, who have lost eight of their last ten, must find more efficient offense to challenge a Drexel team that is 10-2 at home this season. Following this contest, Drexel will prepare to host North Carolina A&T on Sunday. Northeastern continues its road trip at Hampton on Sunday.
