HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Interstat) — A pivotal rematch with conference implications is set for Friday night when the Marshall women’s basketball team hosts Georgia Southern at the Cam Henderson Center. The Thundering Herd (23-7), seeking revenge after a decisive 76-55 road loss to the Eagles just eight days prior, will look to defend their home court and improve their postseason standing. Georgia Southern (20-6), riding a five-game winning streak, aims to complete a regular-season sweep and solidify its own impressive resume. The matchup features two of the league’s most dynamic players in stellar form. Georgia Southern’s Kishyah Anderson has been a force, averaging 18.5 points and 7.0 rebounds over her last six games. Her recent stretch includes a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double against Coastal Carolina and a 21-point, 11-rebound, six-block performance versus Arkansas State. In the Feb. 19 win over Marshall, Anderson played all 40 minutes and scored 23 points. Marshall will counter with the high-scoring Timaya Lewis-Eutsey, who is coming off a spectacular 32-point, seven-rebound, six-block effort in a road win at Georgia State. Lewis-Eutsey, who scored 21 in the loss to Georgia Southern, has topped 30 points twice in her last five games and presents a constant threat to take over offensively. The Eagles’ current streak has been built on defensive pressure, holding opponents to an average of 57.6 points during the run. Marshall, however, boasts one of the nation’s more potent offenses and will benefit from the return to Huntington, where they are 12-2 this season. Friday’s contest promises significant momentum heading into conference tournament play. For Georgia Southern, it’s a chance to prove their recent win was no fluke. For Marshall, it’s an opportunity for redemption and to reassert their dominance at home. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026.
