WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PREVIEW: WAGNER AT NEW HAVEN WEST HAVEN, Conn. (Interstat) — The Wagner Seahawks visit the New Haven Chargers in a Northeast Conference women’s basketball matchup on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at Charger Gymnasium. Wagner (12-14) enters the contest looking to build momentum after a 58-51 home victory over Saint Francis (PA) on Feb. 21. New Haven (7-19) seeks to end a five-game losing streak, most recently a 69-55 home loss to Fairleigh Dickinson on the same date. The Seahawks won the previous meeting this season, 50-45, at home on Jan. 17. A key player for Wagner is Irene Fernandez de Caleya, who is coming off a strong performance of 11 points and nine rebounds in 35 minutes against Saint Francis (PA). Over her last eight games, she has averaged 9.1 points and 6.0 rebounds. New Haven will counter with forward Teaira Kelley, who recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to Fairleigh Dickinson. Kelley has posted double-digit scoring in four of her last six appearances. Wagner’s recent form has been inconsistent, alternating wins and losses over its past six games. The Seahawks’ defense has been a factor, holding opponents under 52 points in three of their last five victories. The Chargers have struggled to find consistent offense, failing to reach 60 points in eight of their last ten outings. Their Jan. 31 win over Saint Francis (PA), 57-56, represents their only victory since mid-January. Following this game, Wagner travels to face Chicago State on Feb. 28. New Haven hits the road for a game at Le Moyne on the same date. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
