AUBURN, Ala. (Interstat) — The Kentucky Wildcats, seeking to solidify their postseason resume, visit the Auburn Tigers in a Southeastern Conference women’s basketball matchup Thursday night at Auburn Arena. Kentucky (20-8) enters the contest looking to rebound from a narrow 81-79 road loss at Vanderbilt on Sunday. The Wildcats had won two straight prior to that defeat. Auburn (14-14) aims to halt a two-game skid, most recently a 74-52 home loss to Georgia on Monday. The Wildcats are led by standout Clara Strack, who is coming off a stretch of dominant performances. Over her last six games, Strack is averaging 20.5 points per game, including a 33-point, 15-rebound effort in a win at Arkansas and a 28-point outing against Mississippi. Her presence inside will be a primary focus for an Auburn defense that has struggled at times this season. Auburn will counter with guard Khady Leye, who scored 16 points in the loss to Georgia. Leye has been a consistent scorer for the Tigers, averaging 9.9 points per game in conference play. The teams’ recent trajectories have diverged. Kentucky has won five of its last eight games, while Auburn has lost six of its last seven, with the lone win coming at Missouri on Feb. 19. The Wildcats’ offense, which put up 93 points in Fayetteville earlier this month, will test an Auburn squad that has allowed 71 or more points in four of its last five losses. Kentucky holds a decisive edge in the all-time series, but the Tigers won the last meeting in Auburn, a 71-68 victory on Feb. 27, 2025. This game represents a critical late-season opportunity for the Wildcats to enhance their NCAA tournament standing and for the Tigers to play spoiler and build momentum before the SEC tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. Kentucky hosts South Carolina on Sunday to close the regular season, while Auburn travels to face Arkansas the same day.
