SAN DIEGO (Interstat) ā Two West Coast Conference womenās basketball teams seeking momentum to close the regular season will meet when the Pacific Tigers visit the San Diego Toreros on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at Jenny Craig Pavilion. Both teams enter the contest on losing streaks. Pacific (11-16 overall) fell 85-70 to Gonzaga in its last outing on Feb. 21. San Diego (9-20) has lost three straight, including a 74-61 defeat at Loyola Marymount that same day. The matchup features a pair of dynamic guards. Pacificās Sydney Ward is coming off a career-high 30-point performance against Gonzaga, adding six rebounds. Over her last seven games, Ward is averaging 15.6 points and has scored 27 or more twice. She will be the focal point of the Tigersā offense. San Diego will counter with Kylie Ray, who has shouldered a heavy load. Ray has played 36 minutes or more in five of her last six complete games, averaging 18.8 points in that span. She scored 25 points in a narrow loss to Gonzaga on Feb. 12. The teams last met on Dec. 30, 2025, with Pacific securing a 72-68 home victory. The Tigers have shown a pattern of alternating wins and losses recently, while the Toreros have struggled for consistency, with just two wins since Jan. 10. Pacific holds the better conference record, but both squads have found wins hard to come by in a competitive league. The game represents a key opportunity for either team to gain confidence before the conference tournament. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. PST at San Diegoās on-campus arena. The game will be the second in a four-day span for both programs.
