Preview: Kennesaw State Owls at New Mexico State Aggies LAS CRUCES, N.M. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to halt slides in conference play will meet Thursday when the Kennesaw State Owls visit the New Mexico State Aggies in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball game at the Pan American Center. The Owls (11-14) have lost three straight, including a 63-59 home defeat to Louisiana Tech on Saturday. The Aggies (8-18) have dropped four of their last five, most recently a 69-58 home loss to UTEP on Feb. 21. Kennesaw State won the first meeting this season, 70-55 at home on Jan. 24. In that game, the Owls held New Mexico State to 30.4% shooting from the field. A key player for the Owls is forward TaTianna Stovall, who is coming off a strong all-around performance despite the loss to Louisiana Tech. She logged 29 minutes, scoring nine points with nine rebounds, three assists and four blocked shots. Over her last five games, Stovall has averaged 8.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.0 blocks. She will be central to Kennesaw State’s efforts to control the paint and disrupt the Aggies’ offense. New Mexico State will look for a spark from guard Keira Hudson. She led the Aggies with 15 points in just 13 minutes off the bench in the loss to UTEP. Her scoring punch provides a potential bright spot for an Aggies team that has struggled offensively, failing to reach 65 points in eight of its last nine contests. For Kennesaw State, consistency on the road has been an issue. The Owls are 3-9 away from home this season. New Mexico State, meanwhile, will try to leverage home-court advantage, where they are 6-7 compared to 2-11 on the road. The matchup pits Kennesaw State’s defense, which held Western Kentucky to 51 points in a road win earlier this month, against a New Mexico State offense averaging just 58.2 points per game for the season. Following this contest, Kennesaw State travels to face UTEP on Saturday. New Mexico State will host Jacksonville State that same day. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. MST Thursday at Pan American Center in University Park.
