MURRAY, Ky. (Interstat) ā The Murray State Racers, one of the nationās hottest teams, look to continue their dominant season when they host the Indiana State Sycamores in a womenās basketball matchup Thursday at CFSB Center. The Racers (25-3) enter on a nine-game winning streak and are heavy favorites against an Indiana State squad (9-18) they dismantled just three weeks ago. On Feb. 5, Murray State raced to a 114-78 road victory, a performance that underscores the challenge facing the visiting Sycamores. Murray State is powered by guard Halli Poock, who is in the midst of a spectacular scoring run. She dropped 33 points and dished eight assists in the first meeting against Indiana State. In her last outing, a 73-62 win at Illinois State on Feb. 22, Poock logged 39 minutes and scored 31 points. Over her last five games, she is averaging 29.4 points per contest. Indiana State seeks an improbable road upset, buoyed by its most recent performanceāan 81-73 home victory over Southern Illinois on Feb. 21. The Sycamores were led in that game by forward Clemisha Prackett, who posted a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds in just 22 minutes. Prackett also scored 12 points in the prior meeting with Murray State. Her interior presence will be key for an Indiana State team that has lost eight of its last ten. The Racersā defense has been stifling, holding opponents to 40 points in a win at Bradley on Feb. 20 and allowing an average of just 66.2 points per game during their current streak. Indiana Stateās offense, which averages 75.4 points, will need a near-perfect effort to keep pace. Tipoff is set for Thursday night in Murray. The Racersā next game is at home against Evansville on Saturday. Indiana State travels to face Belmont on Saturday.
