HARTFORD, Conn. (Interstat) — The undefeated and top-ranked Connecticut Huskies host the Georgetown Hoyas in a Big East women’s basketball matchup Thursday night at XL Center, looking to complete a season sweep and move one step closer to a perfect regular season. UConn (29-0, 16-0 Big East) has dominated conference play, winning its games by an average margin of 37.5 points. The Huskies routed Georgetown 83-42 just over a month ago on Jan. 22. They are coming off an 81-38 victory over Providence on Sunday, where KK Arnold posted a double-double with 8 points and 10 assists. Arnold has been a dynamic facilitator, averaging 6.4 assists over her last five games. Georgetown (13-14, 5-11) enters on a three-game losing streak, most recently falling 66-58 to Butler on Saturday. The Hoyas’ hopes for an upset likely hinge on the production of forward Brianna Scott, who is coming off a 15-point, 10-rebound performance against Butler. Scott has scored 17 or more points in three of her last six contests but was held to just 3 points in the first meeting with UConn. The Huskies have showcased a balanced and relentless attack. In the rout of Providence, freshman Sarah Strong scored 13 points in just 13 minutes, while center Jana El Alfy grabbed 16 rebounds. UConn’s defense has held opponents under 40 points six times this season. For Georgetown, finding consistent offense beyond Scott will be critical. Destiny Agubata added 11 points and 8 rebounds against Butler, but the Hoyas have struggled in conference play, losing seven of their last nine. The game tips off at 7 p.m. EST. UConn’s next game is at St. John’s on Sunday. Georgetown returns home to face DePaul on Sunday.
