Preview: Clemson at California Womenâs Basketball BERKELEY, Calif. (Interstat) â The Clemson Lady Tigers visit the California Golden Bears in a nonconference womenâs basketball matchup Thursday at Haas Pavilion. Clemson (19-9), representing the Atlantic Coast Conference, arrives on the West Coast after a narrow 53-51 home win over Duke on Sunday. The Lady Tigers have won three of their last four. California (17-12) looks to rebound from a 69-60 road loss at Miami (Fla.) on Sunday. The Golden Bears had won three straight prior to that defeat. A key matchup will feature Clemson forward Demeara Hinds against California guard Mjracle Sheppard. Hinds is coming off a strong 13-point, 8-rebound performance against Duke and recorded a double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds) in a win over Boston College on Feb. 8. She provides interior presence for the Lady Tigers. Sheppard orchestrates the Golden Bearsâ offense, averaging 10.2 points and 5.0 assists over her last six games. She posted an 18-point, 10-assist double-double in a win over Notre Dame on Jan. 29 and dished eight assists in a victory at Pittsburgh on Feb. 8. Clemsonâs recent success has been fueled by balance. In the win over Duke, Mia Moore added 11 points and six assists, while Taylor Johnson-Matthews contributed 11 points and seven rebounds. California relies heavily on its backcourt. Alongside Sheppard, Lulu Twidale scored 18 points in the loss to Miami, and Gisella Maul added nine points and five assists. This game concludes the regular season for both teams. Clemson travels to face Stanford on Sunday, while California hosts SMU the same day. Thursdayâs contest tips off at 8 p.m. EST.
