ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) β€” The California Baptist Lancers look to complete a season sweep and solidify their winning record when they visit the struggling Texas-Arlington Mavericks in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball game Thursday. The Lancers (17-10) dominated the first meeting on Jan. 31, routing the Mavericks 83-55 in Riverside. California Baptist guard Filipa Barros exploded for 32 points and eight rebounds in that contest, part of a recent stretch where she has averaged 16.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists over her last seven games. Barros is coming off a 10-point, eight-assist performance in a narrow 63-61 home loss to Utah Valley on Feb. 18. Texas-Arlington (10-17) seeks to halt a four-game skid and gain revenge on its home floor at College Park Center. The Mavericks have struggled since a double-overtime win over Utah Tech on Feb. 5, with their only victory in the last six games a 60-59 overtime triumph against Utah Valley on Feb. 7. Forward Kira Reynolds has been a bright spot, scoring in double figures in eight straight games, including a 24-point effort at Southern Utah on Feb. 14. Reynolds had 15 points and six rebounds in the earlier loss to Cal Baptist. The Lancers have shown resilience on the road recently, securing wins at Tarleton State and Abilene Christian earlier this month. Texas-Arlington, meanwhile, has found wins scarce, dropping to 3-9 at home this season. The Mavericks will need a stronger defensive performance after allowing an average of 84 points to Cal Baptist in their two meetings last season. Tipoff is set for Thursday night. California Baptist visits Tarleton State on Saturday, while Texas-Arlington hosts Tarleton State on March 5.
