LEE, N.H. (Interstat) β A surging Binghamton squad looks to solidify its standing when it visits struggling New Hampshire in an America East womenβs basketball matchup Thursday night at Lundholm Gym. The Bearcats (18-9) enter on a high note after a dominant 69-44 victory over Massachusetts-Lowell on Saturday. Forward Kendall Bennett recorded a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds in that win, continuing a strong stretch. Over her last seven games, Bennett is averaging 15.7 points and 7.4 rebounds, including a 24-point, four-block performance in a January overtime win at Bryant. Binghamton, which sits near the top of the conference, has won three of its last five. Its defense has been a key factor, holding opponents to an average of 55.2 points during that span. The Bearcats defeated New Hampshire 50-42 just over a month ago on Jan. 22. The Wildcats (8-19) have lost six straight games since that Jan. 29 overtime win at UMass Lowell. Their offense has frequently stalled, failing to reach 50 points in four of those six losses. Guard Eva DeChent has been a bright spot, averaging 21.0 points over her last three contests. She scored 26 points in a narrow loss at Maine last Saturday and poured in 29 against UMass Lowell on Feb. 19. New Hampshire will need a similar high-volume scoring effort from DeChent and improved production from its supporting cast to challenge a balanced Binghamton lineup. The Wildcats have struggled at home recently, losing their last three at Lundholm Gym. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. Binghamton visits Maine on Saturday, while New Hampshire hosts Albany.
