Preview: Western Michigan Broncos at Buffalo Bulls BUFFALO, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two Mid-American Conference women’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Western Michigan Broncos visit the Buffalo Bulls at Alumni Arena. Western Michigan (8-17) enters on a relative high, having snapped a four-game skid with a 65-60 home victory over Northern Illinois on Saturday. The Broncos will look to build on that against a Buffalo squad mired in a 13-game losing streak. The Bulls (2-24) have found wins elusive all season, with their last victory coming on Jan. 3 — a 65-83 loss in Kalamazoo in the teams’ first meeting this season. Buffalo’s most recent outing was a 63-73 defeat at Eastern Michigan on Saturday. The matchup features two of the conference’s top individual performers. Western Michigan is led by guard Alli Carlson, who is coming off a complete performance against Northern Illinois with 22 points, five rebounds and six assists in 40 minutes. Over her last seven games, Carlson has averaged 13.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists. For Buffalo, forward Meg Lucas has been a consistent bright spot. She recorded a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds at Eastern Michigan, her third double-double in the last seven contests. Lucas is averaging 12.6 points and 8.7 rebounds per game over that stretch. While both teams have struggled in conference play, the Broncos have shown more recent competitiveness, with three of their last five losses decided by seven points or fewer. Buffalo, meanwhile, has lost its last five games by an average margin of 19.2 points. Wednesday’s contest is the second of two regular-season meetings. Following this game, Western Michigan will host Massachusetts on Saturday. Buffalo will remain at home to face Toledo on Saturday.
