Preview: Dayton Flyers at Loyola Chicago Ramblers CHICAGO (Interstat) — Two teams jockeying for position in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings will meet Wednesday when the Dayton Flyers visit the Loyola Chicago Ramblers in a women’s basketball matchup at Joseph Gentile Center. Both teams enter with nearly identical records, seeking to push above .500. Dayton is 14-13 overall, while Loyola Chicago sits at 13-14. The Ramblers won the first meeting this season, 71-68, at Dayton on Jan. 7. The Flyers are looking to rebound from a 79-67 road loss at Davidson on Saturday. Dayton has relied on the consistent interior presence of forward Ajok Madol, who is averaging a near double-double in recent games. Madol posted 11 points and nine rebounds in 34 minutes against Davidson, following a 12-point, eight-rebound performance in a win over Saint Louis on Feb. 14. Loyola Chicago arrives with momentum from a narrow 58-55 road victory at Saint Bonaventure, powered by a 21-point, six-rebound effort from guard Alexa Kinas. Kinas has been a focal point for the Ramblers’ offense, scoring in double figures in four of her last seven contests. Her versatility was on display in a win over VCU on Feb. 7, when she tallied eight points, seven rebounds and six assists. Dayton’s recent form has been uneven, splitting its last six games. Beyond Madol, contributors like Nayo Lear and Olivia Leung will need to provide scoring support. Loyola Chicago has also struggled for consistency, but its defense has been key in wins, holding opponents to 55 points or fewer in three of its last five victories. The game could hinge on which team controls the paint and capitalizes on late-game opportunities, a area where Loyola Chicago succeeded in the January matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST Wednesday. Dayton hosts VCU next on Feb. 28, while Loyola Chicago travels to face La Salle the same day.
