(Interstat) — A critical Atlantic 10 women’s basketball clash with postseason implications is set for Wednesday when the Saint Joseph’s Hawks visit the George Mason Patriots at EagleBank Arena. Both teams enter with identical 19-8 overall records, locked in a tight conference standings race. The matchup is a quick rematch of a Jan. 18 game, which George Mason won 66-59 in Philadelphia. The Patriots (19-8) have won three straight, most recently a 67-52 victory over George Washington on Saturday. Forward Zahirah Walton has been dominant, averaging 20.3 points over her last three games. She scored 22 points with eight rebounds in the last outing and had 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the January win over Saint Joseph’s. The Hawks (19-8) are also riding a three-game winning streak, including a 65-54 road win at Saint Louis on Saturday. Guard Aleah Snead, their primary playmaker, posted 18 points, five rebounds and seven assists in that victory. She averages 13.4 points and 4.4 assists per game this season. Wednesday’s contest will likely hinge on backcourt execution and which star can better dictate the tempo.
