DELAND, Fla. (Interstat) — A critical ASUN Conference women’s basketball showdown with postseason implications is set for Wednesday when the Jacksonville Dolphins visit the Stetson Hatters at Edmunds Center. Both teams enter on winning streaks and in strong form. Jacksonville (19-7 overall) has won seven consecutive games, the latest a 70-61 victory over Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday. Stetson (18-9) has won four straight, including a 69-54 win over Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. The matchup is a quick rematch from Feb. 12, when the host Dolphins held off the Hatters 76-70. Jacksonville’s Tatum Brown was pivotal in that win, scoring 14 points and dishing four assists. The senior guard is the Dolphins’ player to watch, coming off a dominant 20-point, 8-rebound performance against FGCU. Over her last eight games, Brown has averaged 13.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Stetson will counter with forward Promise Keshi, who is playing her best basketball of the season. After being limited to two points in the loss at Jacksonville, Keshi posted a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds against Eastern Kentucky. Her interior presence will be key for the Hatters, who will seek to defend their home court and avenge the earlier defeat. A Jacksonville win would solidify its standing near the top of the conference and deliver a 20-win season. For Stetson, a victory would not only snap the skid against the Dolphins but also bolster its own conference tournament seeding and reach the 19-win mark. The Dolphins’ high-scoring offense, which has topped 80 points three times during its streak, will be tested by a Stetson defense that has held opponents to an average of 58.5 points during its four-game run. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Wednesday. Jacksonville hosts North Florida on Friday, while Stetson travels to face Florida Gulf Coast the same night.
