ST. LOUIS (Interstat) — Two Atlantic 10 women’s basketball teams seeking momentum at the end of challenging seasons will meet Wednesday when the Saint Louis Billikens host the Duquesne Dukes at Chaifetz Arena. The matchup features teams with nearly identical records. Duquesne enters at 10-17 overall, while Saint Louis sits at 11-18. Both squads are looking to build on rare recent victories after enduring prolonged slumps. The Dukes snapped a five-game losing streak with a 72-61 home win over VCU on Saturday, powered by a career-high 27 points from junior guard Alexis Bordas. Bordas has been a consistent offensive force, scoring 20 or more points in four of her last seven games. Her backcourt play will be critical for Duquesne, which has struggled on the road with a 3-9 record away from Pittsburgh. Saint Louis, meanwhile, looks to halt a six-game skid. The Billikens’ last win was a 62-58 victory over Dayton on Jan. 18. A bright spot during the losing streak has been the interior presence of forward Alyssa Koerkenmeier, who has recorded a double-double in five of her last seven outings, including a 16-point, 15-rebound performance against Fordham on Feb. 11. The Billikens won the first meeting this season, 72-62, at Duquesne on Dec. 31. In that game, Saint Louis capitalized on 19 Duquesne turnovers and held the Dukes to 34.4% shooting from the field. For Duquesne, supporting Bordas will be key. Reina Green is coming off a 13-point, nine-rebound effort against VCU. Saint Louis will rely on Koerkenmeier and guard Zya Nugent, who scored 14 points in the loss to Saint Joseph’s on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CST Wednesday. Following this contest, Duquesne will host George Mason on Saturday, while Saint Louis travels to face Davidson.
