Preview: Central Michigan at Toledo Womenās Basketball TOLEDO, Ohio (Interstat) ā Two Mid-American Conference teams looking to stabilize their late-season momentum will meet Wednesday when the Central Michigan Chippewas visit the Toledo Rockets at Savage Hall. Central Michigan (16-10) enters having lost two straight, including a 69-50 home defeat to Massachusetts on Saturday. Toledo (14-11) also looks to rebound from a loss, falling 61-52 at Bowling Green on the same day. The matchup features two of the leagueās top guards. Central Michiganās fortunes hinge on the prolific scoring of Madi Morson. The senior is averaging 23.4 points over her last eight games, including a 29-point effort in a win over Akron on Feb. 11 and a 25-point performance against Western Michigan on Feb. 14. She scored 16 in the loss to UMass. Toledo will counter with Kendall Carruthers, a key facilitator. She is coming off a 13-point, 4-assist performance at Bowling Green and has been a steadying presence, dishing six assists in a win over Southern Mississippi on Feb. 7. Inside, Central Michiganās Taylor Anderson poses a rebounding threat, pulling down 14 boards in the last outing. Toledoās defense will rely on forward Evalyse Cole, who recorded four blocks against Bowling Green, and guard Ella Weaver, who had nine rebounds in that game. The Chippewas hold a narrow edge in the overall season record, but both teams have mirrored each other in recent inconsistency, trading wins and losses. Central Michiganās offense, when fueled by Morson, can be potent, averaging over 70 points in its last three victories. Toledo has found success with defense, holding opponents under 62 points in three of its last five wins. Wednesdayās contest is critical for conference tournament seeding. Following this game, Central Michigan travels to Kent State on Saturday. Toledo will head to Buffalo on the same day. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST at Savage Hall.
