ROSEMONT, Ill. (Interstat) ā Two Big East womenās basketball teams seeking momentum at the close of a difficult season will meet Wednesday when the Butler Bulldogs visit the DePaul Blue Demons at Allstate Arena. Butler (10-18, 3-14 Big East) arrives having snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 66-58 road win at Georgetown on Saturday. The Bulldogs will look to carry that confidence into the rematch with DePaul, having already defeated the Blue Demons 73-67 in Indianapolis on Jan. 21. DePaul (7-22, 3-14) also enters with some confidence after a 76-67 home victory over Xavier on Sunday. That win ended a three-game skid for the Blue Demons, who are tied with Butler at the bottom of the conference standings. A key matchup will feature Butler guard Nevaeh Jackson against DePaulās versatile Kate Novik. Jackson, coming off an eight-point, five-rebound, four-assist performance against Georgetown, provides steady backcourt play for the Bulldogs. For DePaul, Novik has been a standout, nearly posting a triple-double with 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the win over Xavier. She has scored 20 or more points in two of her last five games. Both teams have struggled offensively this season, ranking near the bottom of the Big East in scoring. Butlerās defense, which held Georgetown to 58 points, will be tested by a DePaul squad that scored a season-high 76 in its last outing. The game will be the final home contest of the season for DePaul. Butlerās next game is at home against Seton Hall on March 1, while DePaul travels to Georgetown the same day. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST.
